Meet the Founder
​
Our Team Pink Package [TPP] founder, Katy Smith of Minneapolis, is a well-recognized creative recruiter and career coach by trade. She is known to friends, neighbors and colleagues for an infectious love of laughter, optimism, diplomacy and perhaps most famously... her dislike for hummus and irrational fear of bears.
She has since added "inspiration" to that list, as those around her witnessed Katy courageously go head-to-head with breast cancer in 2018. She was diagnosed with "occult [hidden] breast cancer", a rare form that accounts for 2% of all breast cancer patients, at just 33 years old. After 5 months of misdiagnosis, 6 scans, 3 mammograms, 3 biopsies and one major rollercoaster of emotion, Katy was decisively diagnosed by the brilliant oncology team at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Katy harnessed her own experience and that of breast cancer thrivers she met throughout this journey, to launch Team Pink Package in the Fall of 2019 as a way to spread joy, support and inspiration to other women faced with unexpected challenges. To Katy's delight, TPP has since expanded, offering surprise & delight custom curations for all occasions serving individual and business gift giving needs.

A note from our founder,

"...I was overwhelmed with gratitude by those who stayed with me throughout my breast cancer journey. I know there were many more who were thinking of me, but didn’t know what to say or do. That’s when the idea for Team Pink Package came to life. I wanted to create a light from what could have been a very dark experience and help others in the process.

I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to fight back and can now support others. Going through this experience has opened so many doors and I choose to focus on that each day. I choose joy."

For every purchase of $75 or more, Team Pink Package donates one custom care package to a woman going through cancer treatment.
